Previously known as Kodak Optical Imaging Systems, RPO has combined the assets and know-how of optical manufacturing into four ultra-modern facilities totaling over 110,000 square feet. This expertise in aspherical precision glass molding, traditional optics fabrication, and diamond turning provides unique solutions to our customers. With vertically integrated support functions such as thin film coatings and machine shop, our comprehensive design and manufacturing capabilities allow for the rapid prototyping and high volume production of optical lenses, optical lens assemblies and sub-assemblies.

The RPO Legacy

In 2005, Rochester Precision Optics was formed after acquiring the assets and intellectual property of Kodak Optical Imaging Systems. This business was originally known as Kodak Hawk-Eye Works. It was established in 1912 for the design of optics after which Hawkeye designed and produced the optics used in the Kodak cameras and defense equipment became one of the world’s largest optics plants in the world.
