Recently, RPO’s Chief Scientist Dr. David Musgraves co-authored and edited “The Springer Handbook of Glass,” a comprehensive treatment of the current state of glass science from leading experts in the field. The book serves as the preeminent glass materials resource for optical scientists, engineers and students, covering fundamental overviews as well as advanced new research on topics such as glass composition, modeling, processing methods, applications and more. Expert-level understanding of optical glass materials is a key reason why customers continue to trust RPO to exceed their design needs.
Tara Holloway, RPO's Business Development Manager, joined the team in 2016 and is now spearheading the application of RPO’s capabilities in the medical technology market. Tara works directly with manufacturers and service providers to support innovative optical designs for medical device applications. She shares her thoughts on the industry and some of the current projects she is tackling.
If he's not working on exciting new optics designs, Blair can usually be found washing dishes or taste testing new recipes at his husband's restaurant, Relish, in Rochester's South Wedge. At RPO, Blair oversees an elite group of optical design engineers and develops strategic optics programs for customers. Here he shares more about his expertise and the in-house dynamic that makes RPO an ideal precision optics partner.
Outside of work, Clint Braine spends much of his time enjoying the arts —tasting and cooking new recipes, reading fiction novels, or sitting on the Critique Committee of the Rochester International Film Festival. His role with RPO, on the other hand, involves the company’s growth into the life sciences market. He shares his experience as a relatively new RPO employee and the opportunities he's had so far.
Outside of RPO, Scott Wilt is usually golfing or fishing, traveling with his wife, or cheering his daughters on at sporting events. But at work, Scott uses his 20+ years of experience in plastic optics to contribute to the growing injection molding capabilities at RPO. Learn how Scott's expertise is helping the program advance and what's important to the success of plastic optics.
As a newer member of the RPO team, Kelly La Due has had a big impact since taking on the role of Master Scheduler. Described as a planner extraordinaire, Kelly is preparing RPO for the next stage of their growth and managing their high volume optics programs.

We are are pleased to announce the appointment of Randall Shaw as President of RPO.
Described as the guy who takes the craziest projects and makes them not only possible but also affordable, Don Morrison is a problem solver by nature. When he isn't solving complex optical designs, Don enjoys autocross racing at different tracks including Watkins Glen International Speedway.
He has an extensive background in diamond turning and takes a unique interest in solving new challenges and working with new materials. Don shared his expertise and some insight on what he is currently working on.
In his spare time, Dave Schmidt drives the vintage racecar he's been operating for 20-some years. But when he walks into Rochester Precision Optics, Dave is the Director of Advanced Technology where he serves as an integral part of the company's material selection and optical design processes. Pulling from various sources and using his extensive knowledge of optics, Dave, as a fellow team member puts it, makes the impossible actually possible. Dave shares his background in molded plastic optics and the best practices he incorporates in every project.
When he isn't working on his motorcycle collection or renovating a house, Dr. George Lindberg takes on the role of Glass Projects Manager at Rochester Precision Optics (RPO). George received his Ph.D in High Pressure Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Buffalo before joining the RPO team in 2014.
